MARKET COMMON

History

An Extraordinary Lifestyle

The Market Common is a lifestyle center located on the southern end of Myrtle Beach, just off of Highways 17 Business and 17 Bypass, near Myrtle Beach State Park. The 114 acre area is located on the grounds of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, which closed in the early nineties, and was redeveloped and opened to the public in 2008.

The Market Common retains its roots to its military past with Warbird Park, which pays homage to the men and women who served at the former Air Force Base; it also showcases several fighter aircraft. Markers throughout the district commemorate the history of the Air Force Base, and most of the streets are named after those connected with it. The Market Common offers military history trolley tours throughout the year, as well as a local folklore tour.

The district has been masterfully and thoughtfully designed along the lines of an urban village, to include a well-balanced mixture of residential complexes, stores, restaurants, businesses, and natural spaces that identify the Market Common as the place to do it all— work, play, eat, and live— without ever leaving.

MARKET COMMON DIRECTORY

The team here at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Coastal Real Estate has developed this map with the purpose to inform about all the subdivisions that comprise the Market Common District. However, we understand that you may be new to the area so to facilitate your search process, we have created a directory of the area. Windsor Gate is a community of two and three-bedroom two-story townhouse-style homes with lake views. Each home has 2.5 or 3.5 bathrooms, with a private bathroom for each bedroom. The square footage ranges from 1100 to 1300 sq ft, with costs ranging from $150 to $160,000. The Family Kingdom Amusement Park and the SkyWheel are just four miles away. Whispering Pines and the South Kings Highway/Hwy 17 exit ramp to I-17 are two nearby golf courses. Windsor Gate has one of the best locations in the city. Market Common’s retail stores, as well as the park and jogging paths, are only a short drive away.
